Into The Blue

An indication of the new direction I want to take with fashion. I remember it was a sunny LA afternoon when I was inspired to create this blog. Somewhere down town, a troop of gentlemen dressed in black cape hoodies layered under leather jackets and accompanying ripped charcoal jeans. Their attitude and nerve struck me with such force, I began to reflect on my own image, my own direction and how I put myself out into the world. The nerve they had still gets me...

Thus began my obsession with urban street wear as has been the focus of almost all my looks. I don't know if it's simply me wanting to look more mature (not that heavy street wear is immature), or that its simply me exploring me peripheries.

I also have begun working for Topman in a recent internship as well as Microsoft and am looking fashion that is more appropriate for the corporate sphere. This look capitalises on my obsession with beige and blue. I picked up these gorgeous Cole Haans from a boutique in Soho, New York and I thought the orange lining matched perfectly with a pair of socks I had picked up in LA.

My current fascination is collarless button ups is also included in this look. It gives the overall outfit a sleek outlook.

All Black

Lazy outfit day...!

When it comes to the Sydney Summer, and temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius (113 Fahrenheit), there's nothing easier for me to choose to wear than all black, casual and comfortable. Probably the most simple thing you'll see me wear and post. In all honestly, this is an outfit I wear on my fashion "days off", when I want to be cozy and do not have time of want to put a great amount of thought into combinations and layers. . When I'm a bit lazy, all black is the easy way to go.

It's easy to create a balance in the outfit as well as start interest points with anything to sits harshly against all black. As I said before, I do like to have certain interest points in the outfit, no matter how simple. I chose to match textured denim shorts, with eye catching Dope socks that matched my trusty Nikes. I love the skater fit of this tee. Outfit details below.

Rouge Rerun

Cape

A rouge replay of something I've done before. In fashion there is a romanticism of the ephemeral. To put it simply, its the idea that you should only wear one item once and then it should remain in the darkest chasm of your closet until everyone has forgotten about it.

As a resourceful university student, I always find it best to not simply just re-wear outfits, but to reckon with the creative possibilities of a piece's versatility. Street goth fashion inclines toward monochrome the majority of the time and I thought an interesting way to rework long lines and black layering was to spruce up the entire look with red salient.

In addition to this, I want to put an emphasis on the way styling can elevate an outfit. This included rolling up the hem of my chino pants to give the overall look more of a clean and sporty feel to it, while the pushing of the left jacket sleeve up to the elbow to reveal the black zip detail of my cape adds an extra dimension.
